Uploading
your site with Netscape Composer
This
tutorial will guide you step-by-step through configuring
Netscape Composer (included with Netscape Communicator
software) to exchange files between your computer and your
web site.
You can
download Netscape FREE at http://home.netscape.com/browsers/index.html
In order to
follow along with us, you'll need to have Netscape
Composer installed, and you'll need to be connected to the
internet via your Internet service provider. Communicator is part of a typical installation for Netscape.
To
start Netscape Composer:
1) Click Windows Start button.
2) Click Programs.
3) Click Netscape
Communicator.
4) Click Netscape Composer.
Create
a Simple Page
Before you
can publish an html file to your web site,
you must either have a page already created, or create a
page. To Edit a file:
1) FTP the file to edit from the server to your PC.
2) To Open a file:
Open Netscape Composer.
Click File
--> Open.
Browse, find and select the file to edit.
Click the Open button.
3) Edit the file and make changes to the file. For further information about editing the file:

4) Save the file.
This step is very important.
5) FTP the file to the server over the old file.
Publish
Your Web Page.
1.
From
the menu bar, choose File
--> Publish.
The
Publish Files dialogue
box will open, and will look similar to this:

Enter
the following settings:
HTTP
or FTP Location to publish to:
ftp://yourdomain.com/www/
Username:
Insert
your username here.
Password:
Insert
your password here.
NOTE: If
you wish to place the file in a sub-directory you must
first create that directory with the file manager. Then
the location would be ftp://yourdomain.com/www/subdirectory.

If you
wish, you may choose to save your password so that you
don't have to enter it each time you log in. If you wish
to enable this time saving feature, check the box marked
"Save Password"
4.
Enter
the Page Title at the top of the window, and also the
Filename.
When you
are finished entering these settings, click on the OK
button, and
you will be connected to your server. The Security
Information box may open, if so, just click on continue,
and your file will upload.
